We have HEUNA window clings. Just come to a meeting or our annual potluck picnic on June 9 to get some! We also have informational brochures. If you know any new neighbors, please take some to give to them.
Lots of thank yous: Thank you to Alice Englebretsen and Janie Frye for organizing this event. Thank you to the City of Urbana for providing trash pick-up supplies and collecting the bags. Thank you to all of the wonderful neighbors for participating in this to improve our neighborhood.
ANNUAL POTLUCK PICNIC
Join us on Saturday, June 9, at noon, at the pavilion in Victory Park (Green and Lynn) for our annual HEUNA potluck picnic! All are welcome. Burgers, hot dogs, and buns will be provided. Please bring a chair and a dish to share. We will have live music, and are working on securing a bounce house and city trucks (Touch-a-Truck) for the kids. In case of rain, we will move our activities to the Baha’i Center at Green and Lynn.
Civilian Police Review Board
Scott Dossett presented about the Civilian Police Review Board (CPRB), established by the Urbana City Council to provide a fair and independent process for the review of citizen complaints concerning police officers. The CPRB is charged with offering a citizen’s perspective to the review of complaints and to provide a systematic means to promote and maintain positive police community relations. The CPRB will strive to review complaints in a fair, thorough, and timely manner and report their findings to the Mayor and Chief of Police. Learn more about the group.
Next HEUNA Meeting
Join us on Thursday, May 31, 7-8 p.m., at the Baha’i Center (Lynn and Green). Neighbor Rachel Vellenga will present about raising backyard chickens! And mark your calendar for our Thursday, June 21 meeting (same time and place). Carol Osgood will talk to us about neighborhood “time banks” (such as swapping services like dog-sitting, yard work, etc.) If you’re interested in learning more or participating in an idea like that, join us at the meeting!
